Moonrise over Tucson

Tonight's Wolf moon rising over Tucson. It's called the Wolf Moon in folklore: northern Native Americans named it after packs of singing wolves they once heard during the winter month of January.

I predicted this scene using TheSky and Google Earth software and positioned my camera just so. Shot with a Canon EOS 5D Mark II and a 300mm lens. Enjoy.

Your Harveyness,

I particularly like the 2nd shot. Because you caught the antenna strobes "on".

Very nice shots, Dave. This is much better than the moonrise over the VATT that I seem to recall ...

You weren't that guy without a tripod set up on a pile of bricks that we went barreling past on our way up the road? :P

Jim - negative - was just north of the road before the hairpin turn. Parked in the lot at the base and hiked down the path to the east from the parking lot.

Paul - Moonrise over the VATT? don't remember that one.

Neddly - thanks man!

You all - Thanks!

We must've been about 200 feet apart... Funny. Great minds, eh?! BTW, pretty pix!

Hi Dave-
I was up on A Mountain too, but the peak, looking for a HD movie of moon rise over the Rincons, but the clouds messed me up. Took a panorama of the purty city lights, though, perhaps a future post. Nice we all had similar ideas! Nice post.

David, remember when you and Chemical C.J. showed me the Moonrise over the VATT, or are you getting senile? ;-)
